Tips for receiving your new clone(s)
-Plan to be available to receive your order once it is out for delivery (avoid leaving it to sit on the front porch all day!)
-If you are in an area that has below-freezing temperatures, we recommend waiting until the weather improves before ordering to avoid stressing the plants.
-Assess the plant for watering needs immediately (plants are pre-watered before shipment but should not be fully saturated)
-Plants may appear slightly stressed or sagging upon opening the box. We recommend placing them under a bright light for a few hours to wake them up after travel.
Tips for transplanting
-Plants should be transplanted out of their 3.5" pot between the ages of 1-2 months. (the date that the clone was transplanted is listed on the plant tag included in each box)
-If you remove the plant from the pot, you can tell if they are ready when the soil stays intact and the roots show out the bottom.
-We recommend using at least 3-gallon pots; 10 gallons or more is ideal.
-When transplanting, do not remove the PLA netting that covers the peat pellet. (Common first-time user mistake, especially for hydro growers. Removing the netting almost always damages the roots and can cause the plant to die.)
-Fully saturate the soil with water after transplanting.
-Please note that the clones are rooted in Jiffy Peat pellets. The natural peat is economically sourced, and it has a PLA netting around it to keep the peat intact. Roots should have no issue breaking through the pellet. Once they are rooted, they are transplanted to 3.5" pots. Our clones work in a variety of mediums and should do well in most common soil mixes. You will want to choose soil that is not too heavy, allowing airflow and water to drain properly.
-Hydroponic growers want to keep in mind that the plant is rooted in a peat pellet and that the pellet should stay intact. It can work for hydro systems, but it would technically not be soil-less. We recommend against washing soil off of the plant after it has already been established in the soil, as it causes major stress to the plants.
-For outdoor growers, we recommend keeping the plants inside or at least under lights until mid-May at the earliest. Any earlier than this may cause pre-mature flowering due to the amount of daylight.
-Lastly, for in-ground growers, soil that is too firm or has a lot of gravel can make it more difficult for roots to penetrate, so again, soft soil that allows drainage will be best. We recommend up-potting for about one month before planting directly into the ground.
